Plea­se be advi­sed that due to the vol­ca­nic erup­ti­on at Mt. Raung loca­ted in East Java, the fol­lo­wing air­ports in Indo­ne­sia will be clo­sed tem­pora­ri­ly due to ash clouds through 11 July at 06:30am. Affec­ted air­ports: • Ngu­rah Rai, Bali – Den­pa­sar Inter­na­tio­nal Air­port (DPS) • Lom­bok Inter­na­sio­nal Air­port, Lom­bok • Sel­a­parang, Lom­bok • Blim­bings­ari, Banyuwan­gi, East Java • Noto­ha­di­nego­ro, Jem­ber – East Java ICS teams are working direc­t­ly with our part­ners on all affec­ted boo­kings. If the­re are any chan­ges to the situa­ti­on, we will keep you infor­med.

Tourist Now Free to Go to Mount Bromo

- After being clo­sed to the public for five mon­ths due to inten­se vol­ca­nic activi­ty, the tou­rism area atop Mount Bro­mo in East Java has reo­pe­ned to the public sin­ce 30 March 2011. Howe­ver,

1. The cra­ter its­elf is some­ti­mes still buz­zing which cau­ses a low inten­si­ty tre­mor. This makes the hotel doors and win­dows at Cemo­ra Lawang side (not Bro­mo Tosa­ri) to beco­me tremb­ling. The restric­ted zone is still 2 kms from the cra­ter, which means that the temp­le area and for­mer jeep stop are still total­ly clo­sed for any visit.

2. As the cra­ter is still con­ti­nuous­ly spewing thick fum­es with soft par­ti­cles of vol­ca­nic dust, we will pro­vi­de the mask for our cli­ents in order to pro­tect the nose and mouth.

3. Cli­ents who stay at Bro­mo Cot­ta­ges are still able to do sun­ri­se-excur­si­ons by visi­t­ing the Mount Penan­ja­kan only, while tho­se stay­ing at Cema­ra Lawang side such as Lava View Hotel, Cafe Lava Lodge and Java Bana­na Hotel are unab­le to do any excur­si­ons. It is becau­se the road to Penan­ja­kan is clo­sed but we can arran­ge an alter­na­ti­ve trip to a lower viewing plat­form at Mount Penan­ja­kan II view point, then fur­ther down to the sea of sand only.

4. Mount Penan­ja­kan I (the view point for sun­ri­se acces­si­ble from Bro­mo Cot­ta­ge Hotel only) is still open as it is situa­ted bey­ond the restric­ted area and rela­tively hig­her but from that side jeep is still not allo­wed to go down to the cal­de­ra.
